The CenturyLink Taste of Douglas County, the largest and premier food tasting event in Douglas County, will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016. Hours of the event are 5-8 PM at the Douglas County Events Center on the grounds of the Douglas County Fair in Castle Rock. This beautiful in door, air conditioned facility offers the perfect setting for this type of event. It also offers plenty of free parking.
“The Taste” will once again offer food samplings from some of the area’s finest food service establishments. Join the Old Stone Church, Outback Steakhouse, John Holly’s Asian Bistro, Pegasus Restaurant, Chick-Fil-A, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, B & B Cafe, India’s Castle, Casa Caliente Mexican Restaurant, Southern Hospitality Barbecue, Crave Real Burgers, and other area favorites. For desserts, check out Cold Stone Creamery, Ooey Gooey, and Yumbana Banana Bread. Beverages from Briccy’s Coffee, Imperial Beer of Costa Rica, and Pepsi Bottling Company. Over 40 food service establishments, big and small, casual and fine dining, participate.
BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR: See some of the top chefs in the area compete in a cooking competition. Judges will award a first, second, and third place trophy. Returning chefs include previous winner Jeff Richard from Crave Real Burgers, Adam Friesem from Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Jeff Gebott from Southern Hospitality, Steven Kanatzer from the Airplane Restaurant, and A.J. Doonan from Papa Bear Catering. New comers Lisa Storey from Mama Lisa’s Little Italy, Alex Rodriguez from the Viewhouse and Chris Tostenson from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association will challenge. Judges include Teresa Farney, food editor of the Colorado Springs Gazette, and other local celebrities.
